Nearly 1,250 collegiate men and women took part in the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships on April 4-5, in Tempe, Ariz., near the Arizona State University campus. Collegiate clubs participated in three championship races: a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, 5-kilometer draft-legal sprint, the traditional 1,500m swim, 36k bike, 10k run championship and the four-person Mixed Team Relay, in which athletes will complete a 250m swim, 5k bike and 1.2k run.
The University of Colorado grabbed its fifth consecutive overall team title along with the men's team title. UCLA took home the women's team title while the University of California-Berkeley grabbed its second win in the mixed team relay.
Indiana's Ian Boggs won the men's draft-legal race with Taylor Spivey of Cal-Poly winning the women's draft-legal competition. Rudy Von Berg of Colorado won the men's Olympic-distance Collegiate National Championship with Liz Noey of UCLA claiming the women's Olympic-distance title.
